The Polish Institute Brussels invites you for two concerts of Polish Christmas Carols by Maria Pomianowska Ensemble on Saturday 14 December at 6 p.m. and on Sunday 15 December at 4 p.m at the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to the EU. The concert will take place in the framework of the POLSKA Food Festival.

Maria Pomianowska is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and composer who presents Polish traditional and classical music. During the two concerts, she will play the two Polish folk string instruments Suka and Płock fiddle which she reconstructed herself.

The POLSKA Food Festival is a unique experience that introduces you to some of the best ingredients available in Poland in a festive atmosphere of Christmas. The festival combines a traditional Christmas market with dedicated concerts, winter-themed workshops for children and a variety of other attractions.

The POLSKA Food Festival is carried out by the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to the EU in cooperation with partners such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the National Support Centre for Agriculture, the Polish Institute Brussels, the Polish Tourism Organization and the Silesian Voivodeship.

About Maria Pomianowska

Multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, composer and teacher. Professor of the Academy of Music in Cracow and director of the Cross-Culture Warsaw Festival. Since 1984 she has studied the unique techniques of playing European and Asian instruments. In 1994 she reconstructed two Polish folk string instruments, which have not been preserved to present times –Suka and Płock fiddle.

The artist has given concerts all over the world for the past 30 years. During her 5-year stay in Japan (1997-2002) she presented Polish traditional and classical music in the biggest music venues. On number of occasions she presented the reconstructed instruments and Polish music at the Imperial Court of Japan. She has released over 23 albums, many of which have received international awards.
